GST and Customs Masterclass

GST Masterclass

About the Masterclass
The past year has marked many important milestones. The Goods and Service Tax legislation has completed a year as on 1 July 2018. While the Government of India has made several overtures to address and resolve issues arising due to this regime, the road to this “One Nation-One Tax” regime has had its ups and downs.
The government has setup a robust GST Network, appointed GST Suvidha Providers (GSPs) and setup the National Anti-Profiteering Authority (NAPA) for looking into profiteering matters. Numerous taxpayers have revolutionized their Enterprise Resource Planning systems in line with the GST regime to meet their compliance requirements.
Even after one year, changes and amendments to tweak the regime continue.
This two-day masterclass is being organized by EY FAAS to provide an insight into the dynamic changes that have been implemented in the GST legislation over a period of 21 months and the manner in which taxpayers need to deal with key day to day challenges.
This interactive session is aimed to provide an overview of the GST framework encompassing the concepts of supply, place of supply, time of supply, valuation and input tax credit, the session includes a discussion around the key issues and challenges faced by the industry.

Customs Masterclass

About the Masterclass
The customs and foreign trade policy law in India continues to evolve with the streamlining of benefits and processes. Technology interface through adoption of Electronic Data Interchange, introduction of self-assessment with post clearance audit and embracing of Free Trade Agreement and Authorized Economic Operator schemes are some initiatives that bear testimony to the country’s commitment to align Indian trade compliance laws with international best practices.
With the introduction of GST, and continuing developments on the transfer pricing front there is an enhanced interplay between customs and GST laws on import of goods. Accordingly, ambiguities continue in areas such as classification, valuation and applicability of exemption notifications, including eligibility to incentives for specific sectors.
Further several initiates are on the anvil in terms of increased digital interface on the customs clearance process.
Hence this one-and-a-half-day masterclass is being organized by EY FAAS to provide an insight into customs and trade compliance laws including sharing of certain practical insights.
